For Vehicles Without Existing Steering Wheel Controls

This guide will walk you through installing a steering wheel with integrated buttons on a vehicle that originally had a basic wheel. Follow these steps carefully to ensure a successful installation.
Safety First!
- Park the vehicle on a level surface.
- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery (-) terminal.
- Wait at least 10 minutes to prevent accidental airbag deployment.
Installation Instructions
Step 1: Disconnect the Battery
- Locate the negative (-) terminal on your vehicle’s battery and disconnect it.
- Wait at least 10 minutes to allow the airbag system to fully discharge.
Step 2: Remove the Airbag
- Find the airbag release points on the side of the steering wheel:
- Pre-2015 & 70 Series Landcruiser: Use a star fitting to loosen the airbag.
- 2015+ models: Use a flathead screwdriver to release the three clips.
- Carefully pull the airbag forward and disconnect:
- Earth wire plug (small black wire)
- Yellow airbag plug (lift the yellow tab to release)
Step 3: Remove the Steering Wheel
- Disconnect all plugs from the clock spring.
- Use a 19mm socket to loosen the center nut (don’t remove fully yet).
- Rock the steering wheel left to right until it loosens.
- Remove the nut and pull the wheel off.
Step 4: Upgrade the Clock Spring
Removing the Old Clock Spring
- Remove the plastic shroud (2 Phillips screws underneath).
- Unplug the two connectors near the ignition switch.
- Release the top and side clips to remove the clock spring.
Installing the New Clock Spring
- Align and click in the new Tuck’s Performance clock spring.
- Plug in the yellow airbag connector.
- Connect the supplied harness:
- One end to the new clock spring
- The other to the factory Toyota plug
Step 5: Wiring the Steering Controls to the Stereo
- Remove the stereo to access wiring.
- Route the supplied harness to the stereo area.
- Connect the single illumination wire:
- Standard: green wire in stereo harness
- Or any lighting circuit
Connecting to Stereo:
- Android stereos: Plug-and-play

Alpine, Sony, JVC, Pioneer:
- Cut factory plug off both sides
- Connect black to black (ground)
- Connect remaining two wires (order doesn’t matter)
Step 6: Install the New Steering Wheel
- Remove orange tab from new clock spring
- Align wheel and tighten 19mm nut
- Connect:
- 10-pin to 12-pin adapter (Pre-2015)
- Two-wire cruise control plug
- Note: Factory stalk cruise control no longer used
Step 7: Transfer the Airbag Detonator
- Remove four 8mm nuts from original airbag
- Transfer detonator to new airbag pad
- Align and tighten the four nuts securely
Step 8: Reinstall the Airbag
- Reconnect yellow airbag plug and secure the tab
- Attach earth wire to the airbag plate
- Push the airbag in until it clicks
Step 9: Reconnect Battery & Test
- Reconnect the battery
- Turn on ignition and test all buttons
- If needed, configure steering settings via the stereo
Final Checks
- Ensure airbag is secure
- Test all buttons and cruise control
- No warning lights on the dash
