A two-piece 12V or 24V split system with a variable-speed inverter scroll compressor, the latest tech going, in a housing that won't crumble or fade in the Australian sun. It's not your average cheap aircon. It's built for people who want quality and want it to last.

And it mounts just about anywhere. The outdoor unit runs vertical or horizontal, so it can go on the roof, on the back wall of a camper or caravan, on a drawbar, or under the vehicle. Why it's worth the money

• Variable-speed inverter scroll compressor. Ramps up to pull the heat out fast, then slows down to hold the temperature, so it's quieter and easier on your batteries than a fixed-speed unit.

Will it fit my caravan, camper or truck?

Almost certainly. The outdoor unit mounts vertical or horizontal, so it goes on the roof, on a back wall, on the drawbar or under the vehicle. If you're not sure, send us a photo of where you want it and we'll tell you.

Where can I mount the outdoor unit?

Anywhere with airflow: the roof, the back or side wall of a camper or caravan, a drawbar, or underneath the vehicle. Standing up or lying flat, it doesn't matter.

Which indoor unit should I pick?

FS600, FS1800 and FS460 are wall mounts. FS650 is the roof mount. Sizes are in the table above. Send us a photo of where it's going and we'll help you pick.

Is 2.3 kW enough to cool my space?

It's a good match for sleeper cabs, vans, campers and smaller caravans. Tell us the size of the space and we'll give you an honest answer.

How many amps does it draw?

On 24V it draws 10 to 38 A, depending on how hard it's working. A 12V system draws roughly double the amps for the same cooling. The inverter compressor slows down once the space is cool, so the draw drops a lot after the first few minutes.

Should I get 12V or 24V?

Match it to your vehicle's system. Trucks and most heavy vehicles are 24V. Caravans, campers and utes are usually 12V. If you've got the choice, 24V runs on half the amps.

Will it run off my batteries or solar?

Yes, it's a DC unit. Run it from a good lithium battery bank, charged by a DC-DC charger and solar. A DC-DC charger gets your batteries to 100 percent, where an alternator alone only gets them to about 80 percent.

Does it heat or demist?

No. It's a cooling unit.

Is it noisy?

No. Under 50 dB, with brushless fan motors and an inverter compressor that slows right down once it's cool. Quiet enough to sleep with.

Do you install it, or who can?

We don't install, but any licensed A/C technician can fit it. They'll connect the lines and handle the refrigerant.

What gas does it use?

R134a, about 600 g. The compressor comes with its oil already in it.

Why is it dearer than other DC aircons?

Because of what's inside. Inverter scroll compressor, thicker copper condenser, proper copper wiring, brushless motors and a UV-stable housing. The cheap ones cut corners on all of those, and that's what fails in the Australian heat.

What warranty do I get?

3 years on the compressor and 1 year on the rest of the unit.
